Getting started with Kaseya MDR

The Getting started with Kaseya MDR section helps you understand how onboarding works, confirm access, and complete the early steps required to use the platform safely and effectively.

This section is designed to support different customer contexts—organizations coming to Kaseya MDR from RocketCyber, Kaseya 365 customers, as well as organizations whose experience with Kaseya MDR begins outside of those contexts—while keeping the focus on access readiness, authentication, and validation rather than investigation, detection tuning, or response operations.

Getting started focuses on access readiness and early validation, including how you access Kaseya MDR, how authentication and identity enforcement are handled, and what to expect when you first sign in.

Getting started is about ensuring that you can access the platform securely and that the environment is ready for use. It is not intended to demonstrate detection results or SOC activity.

NOTE  Availability and onboarding steps for Kaseya MDR may vary depending on how access is provided (for example, standalone access, Kaseya 365, or RocketCyber synchronization). Some guidance in this section applies once Kaseya MDR is available in your environment.

What “getting started” covers

Getting started with Kaseya MDR involves more than completing your first sign‑in. It focuses on confirming access, security, and readiness after initial login. Depending on how you access the product, onboarding may include:

  • Understanding how you access Kaseya MDR

  • Confirming how authentication works in your environment

  • Completing required security setup, such as two‑factor authentication (2FA)

  • Verifying that data is being ingested and displayed

  • Getting oriented before investigating alerts or changing configuration

This section focuses on early access and readiness. It does not cover alert investigation, response actions, automation design, or detection tuning.

Important: Initial data, events, or alerts may not be visible immediately after first access. Use the validation steps in this section to confirm ingestion before assuming a configuration or access issue.

Accessing Kaseya MDR

Kaseya MDR supports different onboarding experiences depending on your subscription and existing products.

Customers accessing Kaseya MDR outside of RocketCyber

If your experience with Kaseya MDR begins outside RocketCyber, access is provided through your activation method, such as:

Some organizations begin their experience with Kaseya MDR without coming from RocketCyber. In these cases, access is established through one of the following contexts:

  • Standalone Kaseya MDR, where Kaseya MDR is provisioned as its own product

  • Kaseya 365, where Kaseya MDR is included as part of a broader subscription and becomes accessible through KaseyaOne once provisioned.

While the access experience differs between these contexts, the goals during onboarding are the same: establishing access, confirming authentication behavior, and validating that the platform is ready for use.

Depending on your context, some readiness steps may already be complete. Even so, review and validate them to confirm that the environment is operating as expected.

Customers accessing Kaseya MDR from RocketCyber

If you previously used RocketCyber, Kaseya MDR represents the same detection and investigation platform evolving, with a redesigned interface and updated workflows.

During the transition period:

  • You do not need to re‑sign up for Kaseya MDR.

  • Access to Kaseya MDR is initiated from the RocketCyber platform.

  • Your existing RocketCyber monitoring and protections continue to run.

  • RocketCyber and Kaseya MDR remain available as separate platforms, each accessed independently.

When access is initiated, the platform establishes your Kaseya MDR environment and associates it with your existing user account, including SaaS Alerts where applicable. Any existing two‑factor authentication (2FA) registration is retained, while authentication sessions remain separate between platforms.

To understand how this access process works and what to expect during first login, see Getting started with Kaseya MDR as a RocketCyber user.

About access, authentication, and security readiness

Before investigating alerts or taking response actions, you must be able to:

  • Sign in successfully

  • Understand where authentication occurs

  • Complete required security setup

Depending on how you access Kaseya MDR, authentication may be handled directly in Kaseya MDR or through Unified Login with KaseyaOne.

Unified Login with KaseyaOne

If your organization uses Unified Login, authentication may be handled through KaseyaOne rather than directly in Kaseya MDR. This affects how sign‑in and security enforcement behave, but not how detection, investigation, or response works in the platform.

Refer to Unified Login with KaseyaOne to understand how Unified Login impacts access and security requirements.

Securing your account with two‑factor authentication (2FA)

If your organization uses direct sign‑in to Kaseya MDR, enabling two‑factor authentication (2FA) is strongly recommended and required for certain response and automation capabilities.

Completing security setup early helps ensure:

  • Reliable access to the platform

  • Proper enforcement of security controls

  • Full availability of investigation and response features

Note: If your organization uses Unified Login, MFA may already be enforced during KaseyaOne sign‑in. Review Securing your account with two‑factor authentication (2FA) to understand whether additional action is required.

What happens after initial access

Once access and authentication are confirmed, getting started continues with validation:

  • Confirming that data is being ingested

  • Confirming that expected devices appear (This validates agent presence and visibility. It is not a deployment step.)

  • Verifying that events and alerts are visible

  • Understanding where investigation workflows begin

Professional Services project setup and related communications are handled separately and are not part of the Getting started scope.

These steps are covered in the child articles within this section.
